Castle Crashers now out on marketplace

Castle Crashers right from the beginning will remind you of the The Bohemoth's last XBLA game Alien Hominid,the games look very similar in art style sporting the same cel shaded cartoony look. This game however is a hybrid of sorts. It plays just like the old school "go right beat em ups" back in the day such as Streets of Rage and Double Dragon,but it seems to go deeper with some RPG elements like being able to collect gold to buy new and better weapons and items. Also your character can level up like in an RPG and you can apply points to different attributes such as strength,magic,defense and agility.

The game has been definitely made with 4 player co-op in mind. You can play in single player mode,but it seems like it could get difficult. The controls are simple with 2 buttons controlling your attacks. You will also learn new combos along the way. There are neat additions to the levels such as merchants randomly placed in certain levels where you can buy items,etc.

This was a quick look at the new XBLA game to mark the finale of the Summer of Arcade promotion Castle Crashers. It looks great with sharp and vibrant graphics and plays easily enough to pickup and play. The game has a great sense of humor as well.
