Unless you live under a nice big rock, you know about the XBLA game that was just released today "Braid". I personally have not purchased this game yet,I have my reasons, but lets talk about what the game lets you see in the trial version.
Right from the start Braid shows off just how unique it is. You are not greeted with with a start menu or a main menu, you are greeted with the words "move the L stick to move". Yep the game throws you right in to the action. You move your character to each of the puzzles. The levels in this game are like you are jumping into an interactive puzzle and you got to find all of the pieces to finish the puzzle. The art style in Braid is very unique and the only way I can think of to describe the art style is that the backgrounds look just like a watercolor painting. The game sports a nice handdrawn or handpainted look.
Now the game is 1,200 msp ($15.00) and this is where the game is kind of already taking a beating. It seems that 800 msp is the "killswitch" for XBLA gamers. Gamers don't seem to want to allow XBLA games to go over 800 msp. Once a game goes over 800 points,it is for some reason "not worth it". Lets stop and think about this for a minute,Braid plays great,it looks great and it (going by the trial) is addictive, and it's only $15.00. There are games that are much worse out there (not going to name any names) that are $50.00 to $60.00.
So definitely get Braid,I already like it and I feel that I will give it a good review once I get the full game in. I just feel that Xbox 360 gamers are just so used to the 800 msp price point that we get a little "scared" when we see 4 digits in the msp total. But fret not,the game will be worth it,you know it will be and for us to have a possible sequel or add-on it needs to sell well,so go out and support the game. Thanks.
