Fans of live music, summertime and the great outdoors will all gather this weekend in the Windy City to attend one of the most highly-anticipated music events of the year, the 2008 Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, Chicago on July 18-20. To help celebrate the exciting festivities, 2K Sports today announced their exclusive video game partnership for the sold out annual summer music festival that features a variety of artists from current and previous 2K Sports in-game soundtracks such as Ghostface Killah, Sebadoh, !!!, The Hold Steady, No Age, Les Savy Fav, Dinosaur Jr, and Jay Reatard. The festival will also feature Spoon, Vampire Weekend, Public Enemy, Spiritualized, Sebadoh, Raekwon, Boris, Mission of Burma and many other performances.
“We’re proud to continue our deep relationship with Pitchfork Media, as many of the artists featured in our 2K Sports in-game music soundtracks are also here to perform at the most talked about music event of the summer,” said Tim Rosa, Director of Brand and Lifestyle Marketing at 2K Sports. “It’s always been very important for us to be at the pulse of what’s hip and relevant, and to consistently promote and work with the hottest up-and-coming bands and artists out there, along with being a part of the 2008 Pitchfork Music Festival, is a great testament to that.”
The partnership will mark the second effort between 2K Sports and Pitchfork Media, as they previously helped to select songs for the in-game music soundtrack of Major League Baseball® 2K8. As the exclusive video game partner at 2008 Pitchfork Music Festival, 2K Sports will be providing music goers the opportunity to rock out on interactive kiosks at the 2K Sports Video Game Lounge, featuring Major League Baseball 2K8 and the hugely popular tennis title, Top Spin 3. 2K Sports will also be providing special gift bags to VIP guests, along with displaying video game trailers on the main stage, where legendary influential rap group, Public Enemy, is scheduled to perform their song, “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.”
